The story behind Martial Movement 360

Owner and instructor of Martial Movement 360

Kevin Denton has over thirty years experience in martial arts  and self-defence and has successfully designed an effective programme for both adults and juniors.

Across many years Kevin has gained experience in various different disciplines such as Karate, Wing Chun & Kickboxing, before discovering the concepts of Jeet Kune Do.

Kevin has maintained consistent training over the years. His dedication led him to travel to America, where he trained with Dan Inosanto—a first-generation student of Bruce Lee and a leading jeet kune do instructor.

On separate trips, Kevin also met and trained with Burton Richardson and Marc Denny. Denny is the founder of the Dog Brothers, a group known for their full-contact stick fighting.

Why I Started Martial Arts

“I got into martial arts for the same reasons most people do—to defend myself and build confidence.

After a fight in my teens, I joined a boxing club and a Tae Kwon Do school. Boxing gave me a solid base in striking. But six months in, the club shut down, so I carried on with TKD.

Martial arts quickly became a big part of my life. Then a knee injury forced me to stop. At the time, most styles available were high-kicking ones like TKD and Karate. Judo wasn’t an option—there were no clubs nearby. I was stuck.

In my 20s, things changed. A friend introduced me to Wing Chun. It focused on close-quarters strikes and practical self-defence. No high kicks. That shift got me back into training.

It also shaped how I think about martial arts—and how I teach it today.”
